How AI Did Nobel-Prize Winning Chemistry

Jim Griffin June 3, 2024

Background

At Carnegie Mellon University, an application called Coscientist was able to re-create a Nobel Prize-winning chemical reaction, and to design a successful laboratory procedure to reproduce it, and to run that procedure in a cloud-based lab — all without help from humans.

This video gives the background on that experiment and on Coscientist. I conclude with reflections about the implications of this level of achievement for companies that are seeking a competitive edge.
